Fall Assembly and Clericus Meetings in November

Dear Friends,

Our next two meetings include our Fall Deanery 8 meeting and our Clericus meeting at St. Gregory's. A big thank you to Stephen Williams and the good people of St. Gregory's for hosting both of these November meetings.

I hope you all are enjoying the return to school activities that greet us all each September and October.

I am looking forward to seeing you all in November.

November 14th at 3 PM: Fall Deanery 8 Assembly Meeting at Saint Gregory's in Long Beach.

November 23 at 1 PM (St. Gregory's Long Beach) Gary Commins will offer us a presentation on the Urban Intern program. Bring your brown bag and don't forget to send Stephen Williams an email to let him know you will be attending.

Clericus Gatherings in 2010-2011

Our first Clericus gathering for the Fall is going to be September 28th at the Bartlett Center (Beacon House Recovery Center) and our host will be Father Art Barlett. Let me know if you might be willing to host one of the three remaining Clericus lunches. Thanks. Bob_

September 28 (2010) at 1 PM Meeting at the Bartlett Center,(Beacon House Recovery Center)Art Bartlett to give us a presentation on the history of the Seaman's Institute and the other ministries there.

November 14th at 3 PM: Fall Deanery 8 Assembly Meeting at Saint Gregory's in Long Beach.

November 23 at 1 PM (St. Gregory's Long Beach)Please send me any suggestions for a potential presenter for this gathering.

January 25 (2011) at 1 PM A Visit with our Bishop Suffragans: Both Bishop Bruce and Bishop Glasspool will join us for an afternoon of conversation. This will be the first clericus gathering in Christ Church's newly reconstructed parish house.(Christ Church)


March 22 (2011)
at 1 PM (Saint Francis, Palos Verdes)(The Very Rev.) Sylvia Sweeney Bloy House Dean and President will be our presenter. She will share with us the history and future of the Bloy House adventure.

May 24 (2011) at 1 PM (Saint Timothy's in Compton) Holy Family Services

Just a reminder that Safe Guarding God's Children is being offered this Sunday (January 31st) from 1 to 4PM at St. Cross Church in Hermosa Beach. Here is a note from Rachel Nyback, our instructor.

Safeguarding God's Children Workshop

Our Deanery is sponsoring a Safeguarding God's Children Workshop, January 31st from 1 to 4pm hosted at St. Cross in Hermosa Beach. There is a $5 charge for materials that can be paid that day. Please RSVP to me, Rachel Nyback - rnyback@stcross.org - so I can be sure that I have enough materials to go around.

Directions:

Coming from the South Bay Area:

Travel on Pacific Coast Highway until you come to Pier Avenue which is between Artesia and Torrance Blvd. Turn onto Pier Ave. (there is only one direction you can turn onto Pier) and travel to the fourth stop sign which is Monterey Blvd. Turn right onto Monterey and the church is at 1818 Monterey Blvd. Parking on the side and in the back of the church.

Coming north on the 405 take the Artesia Blvd. exit and turn right at the bottom of the exit onto Artesia Blvd. Follow Artesia until you come to Sepulveda/Pacific Coast Highway. Turn left onto Sepulveda/Pacific Coast Highway and continue until you come to Pier Ave. You will turn right onto Pier and travel to the fourth stop sign which is Monterey Blvd. Turn right onto Monterey and the church is at 1818 Monterey Blvd. Parking on the side and in the back of the church.

Coming south on the 405 take the Rosecrans Ave. West exit towards Manhattan Beach. Turn left onto Sepulveda/Pacific Coast Highway and continue until you come to Pier Ave. You will turn right onto Pier and travel to the fourth stop sign which is Monterey Blvd. Turn right onto Monterey and the church is at 1818 Monterey Blvd. Parking on the side and in the back of the church.
