Dear Great 8 Clericus Brothers and Sisters:
Please RSVP for our September 20th meeting (1PM) at Blue Water Grill if you have not already done so.
As the school year is approaching, I want to re-send the list of dates of our Clericus gatherings and offer a possible Deanery Ingathering project for us this year. Janis Rosebrook of Holy Family Adoption Agency and Services spoke to my parish this past year and my parish responded with enthusiasm and support for the work of the agency. Janis has requested to be one of our presenters at one of our clericus meetings and has an idea that I think would provide a way for us to share a group outreach project. Here is the email I received from her this morning:
Do you think your Clericus would sponsor a Deanery "shower" for HFS?? I would provide a list of things we need for our newborns and your deanery could shower us with small gifts. They could also shower us with money, but I don't expect that. Most things are small, well below the $10 limit.
I told Janis that I would first want to pass this idea by you all, particularly the rectors and vicars of the parishes and missions to see if this might be something you might support. Even if only a few of our parishes and missions take this opportunity on, I think it would be good.
I would like to have Janis provide us with a list of items needed for the shower so I can share it with you at our September 20th gathering at the Blue Water Grill in Redondo Beach.
I have invited Janis to present to us on November 15th and she has accepted my invitation. I would encourage you all to contact her to speak at your churches as we did at Christ Church. I gave her about 5 to 10 minutes during the announcement time and then she met with folks after the services in the parish hall coffee hour.
I would propose a Feast of the Epiphany Ingathering which would give us all time to get it on our church calendars and book Janis to speak if possible. Let me know if this seems like a good common project for us to do.
I look forward to seeing you all in September.
God's Peace in the afternoon,
Bob
